Egypt starts talks with NATO over cooperation to confront terrorism

 
 
Negotiations will start between Egypt and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Monday over methods to boost cooperation to confront terrorism within the organization's role of enhancing the capacities of its Mediterranean partner countries.
 
Hesham Badr, deputy foreign minister for multilateral affairs and international security, said on Sunday before flying to Brussels on a three-day visit to Belgium that he will meet with the NATO deupty secretary to mull aspects of cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, what NATO could do and mechanisms of cooperation between Egypt and NATO.
 
Badr added that during his meeting with several NATO officials he will present achievements in Egypt's transitional roadmap and the government’s intentions of carrying it out. He will also review the dangers of terrorism that Egypt faces.
 
The talks with NATO, according to Badr, comes on the occasion of celebrating 20 years of cooperation between the organization and Mediterranean countries. NATO will also organize trainings for ambassadors and media professionals to enhance capacities. Fifteen media professionals will head to the NATO headquarters on 11 March to attend the training sessions.
