The Health Ministry said two doctors were infected with swine flu, bringing the total number of infections to 195 cases with 24 deaths since December 2013.
The ministry also opened a hotline with phone numbers "105" and "27921060" operating 24 hours a day for citizens to report cases of bird flu.
Dr. Amr Kandil, head of the Preventive Medicine Department, said a news conference on Monday that the five doctors who died recently had died of other pulmonary illnesses, adding that the last recorded case of bird flu was in April 2013.
Health Minister Maha Rabat said the ministry does not hide any information. “We will hold a meeting every Tuesday to inform the public about the viruses,” she said.
Former Health Minister Awad Tag Eddin advised citizens to wash their hands and cover their noses and mouths while coughing and sneezing as a precautionary measure, especially in winter when the viruses are more active.
