Army closes Nahda Square before MB demos

Calm prevailed in Giza Governorate and its main squares on Friday morning, before the demonstrations scheduled by the Pro-Mohamed Morsy National Alliance to Support Legitimacy.

The armed forces used iron barriers to cordon off the entrance to Nahda Square, which had witnessed a pro-Morsy sit-in during July and August of 2013, until it was violently dispersed by security forces mid-August leaving hundreds dead.

Security forces tightened their procedures in the vital areas in Giza, such as Mourad Street and the University Bridge, in addition to the Giza Security directorate and the near Saudi Arabia Embassy, fearing any acts of violence.
