Police on Wednesday foiled an attempt by dozens of inmates to escape from Hurghada police station after they allegedly attacked a police officer and detained him.
A security cordon was imposed around the station to prevent them from running away.
Police fired shots in the air to control the situation and prevented the inmates from escaping.
