A family of four was killed when the car they were in fell into the Suez Canal, from a passenger ferry heading to Port Foaud. A child was among the dead.
The car fell into the canal from a ferry linking Port Fouad and Port Said.
The captain of the ferry had told motorists boarding the ferry to make space for an ambulance heading to the city of Port Fouad which was carrying a person in a critical condition. When the driver of the car tried to move it, the vehicle fell through the front gate of the ferry and into the Canal.
The rescue team were able to retrieve the vehicle but could not save those inside.
