Security authorities have decided to postpone the resumption of trains between Cairo and the rest of Egypt until after the first session of ousted President Mohamed Morsy's trial, scheduled for 4 November, for security reasons, sources from the railway authority said.
The same source said that the railway authority's board met last week to set a schedule for trains between Cairo and Upper and Lower Egyptian governorates. During the meeting, they decided to postpone the resumption of train service until after the first session of Morsy's trial. Once train services resume, the number of train trips may be increased to cater to demand.
Officials at the authority are also setting a new schedule for trains that takes into account the hours of the curfew. If approved, the number of trains will be reduced by 30 percent.
