Alexandria Criminal Court decided on Tuesday to postpone until 11 December the eighth session of the prosecutor general’s decision to freeze the assets of fugitive Mubarak-era business tycoon Hussein Salem, his wife, his children and his grandchildren.
The decision includes all liquid, fixed and movable assets, as well as his companies in Alexandria.
The Illicit Gain Authority had said that Salem falls under its jurisdiction in his capacity as a supervisor of a public oil company in Alexandria.
Salem is currently on trial in absentia for corruption. He fled to Spain following the 25 January revolution and was sentenced to 15 years in another corruption trial.
In May, the government of ousted President Mohamed Morsy began negotiations with Salem in an attempt to lure wanted businessmen back to Egypt after he successfully negotiated with Nabuib Sawiris who was charged with tax evasion, Agence France Presse reported.
