Military barges have set off from Suez Bay Thursday morning towards Wadi Feeran’s coast, north of Ras Ghareb, to rescue a 25-member crew of a Dutch cargo ship that caught fire late Wednesday, eyewitness said.
An official source at the General Authority for Red Sea Ports said the Maersk Kampala had been towed away from the site, where a petroleum field is located.
The official added that seven military towing ships and others from oil companies had been sent to the site of the ship which is carrying 80,000 tons of cargo.
