50 supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood were put in detention for 15 days Sunday, pending investigations, in the case of riots and violence that took place in the city of Tanta on Friday.
The defendants face charges of trying to break into the Gharbiya governorate building and the Security Directorate, in addition to shooting at citizens and assaulting security forces. The clashes resulted in the killing of four and the injury of another 70 people.
The defendants were arrested while in possession of a firearm and ammunition, in addition to Molotov cocktails, tear gas, and bladed weapons, according to the investigation.
