Seven pro-Morsy protesters were shot during a pro-Morsy rally on its way to al-Nahda square where one of two main pro-Morsy sit-ins is situated.
Security source told Egypt Independent that the "shooters are unknown".
On the other hand, Muslim Brotherhood source told Reuters that police wearing civilian clothes were behind the shooting, leaving five protesters critically injured.
The rally which started from Faisal Street in Giza was on its way to join forces with al-Nahda sit-in. Protesters held "anti-coup" signs and shouted slogans like "down with the military rule" and "Step down Sisi, Morsy is my president".
