Security sources have said that gunmen driving SUVs fired at the main gate of a military establishment in the district of Qasr al-Bassel in Fayoum and then drove away.
The sources added that army troops have been deployed around the establishment in anticipation of another attack.
A number of military installations in Cairo and other governorates, most notably the Republican Guard headquarters in Cairo and security stations in North Sinai, have been targeted after the overthrow of President Mohamed Morsy, whose supporters are staging protests in Cairo demanding his reinstatement.
