Prosecutor General Talaat Ibrahim has ordered investigations into complaints against politicians and managers of social media pages who allegedly called for protests in front of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Moqattam headquarters Friday.
A spokesperson for the Public Prosecution said that Ibrahim ordered investigations after the clashes injured hundreds of people and resulted in the destruction and burning of property.
Hazem Saleh, head of the prosecution’s technical office, has summoned those who filed complaints in order to question them.
The Muslim Brotherhood also demanded Saturday that authorities investigate the clashes in Moqattam, saying that the events “[aimed] to overthrow the state institutions and exclude the Muslim Brotherhood."
