Railway traffic throughout the country has returned to normal after protests blocking both the Cairo-Alexandria and Cairo-Aswan routes were called off.
Hussein Zakareya, head of the National Railways Authority, said on Wednesday that train traffic in Upper Egypt had resumed after protesters calling for the release of their imprisoned relatives left the tracks between Beni Suef and Maghagha. The demonstrations delayed 25 trains for an average of three hours and 20 minutes.
Traffic also returned to normal after workers at the Beheira company ended their protest at the Hagar Lake stop on the Cairo-Alexandria line near Sidi Gaber. The protest delayed 45 trains for an average of two hours and 10 minutes.
