Military airplanes flew over Cairo in the early hours of Wednesday morning, causing loud aural disturbances, eyewitnesses said.
State-run television said on Wednesday that the Air Force and Air Defense Forces are performing joint trainings in various areas
The military training is trying to determine their preparedness to protect Egypt's airspace, state TV added.
Ahmed Mohamed Ali, the Armed Forces spokesperson, on Tuesday called on citizens to remain calm and not be frightened by the noise from the aircraft.
According to state TV, the trainings are scheduled to continue until the end of this month.
In October, explosions were heard in four Egyptian cities, which Ali said were from military aircraft breaking the sound barrier during training, denying allegations that Israeli planes had penetrated Egyptian airspace.
