An Egyptian national died and two others were injured in Lebanon Monday after a power generator exploded in the Sabtiya suburb in Beirut, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
The deputy spokesperson for the ministry, Nazeeh al-Naggary, said the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut is finishing procedures to return the corpse of Mahmoud Ahmed al-Saqqa to Cairo as soon as possible.
Naggary said the embassy is also following up the conditions of the other two Egyptians injured in the explosion, who had been hospitalized.
Ambassador Ashraf Hamdy told state-run Al-Ahram on Monday that the three had entered Lebanon illegally and do not possess residency permits.
