Four women from Syria and Lebanon were arrested in Beni Suef on Friday and sent to interrogation.
Major General Attiya Mazrou, the head of the Beni Suef Security Directorate, received a suspicious persons report regarding the women earlier in the day from the residents of Baba Village.
Investigations carried out by the criminal police department suggest that the suspects are Lebanese and Syrian, reside in the Omraniya area of the Giza Governorate and had come to Baba in order to receive an allowance from a charitable organization called Om al-Qora. The organization was closed that day, so they went to Ebad al-Rahman Mosque to spend the night until the organization opened the next day.
A security source said that the suspects were detained to verify whether they entered the country through legal means.
