9,000 homes destroyed in Sudan due to torrential rains

Khartoum Governor Abdul Rahman al-Khedr said 9,000 homes were destroyed by torrential rains that hit parts of Sudan, particularly the localities of East Nile, Khartoum, Karari, and Ombadda, according to final figures.
 
In a statement to the press on Thursday, Khedr added that efforts are ongoing to help the people who were affected by the heavy rains. Aid and food supplies were dispatched by several entities to those affected by the rains.
 
Khedr lauded popular and official responses represented in efforts to provide aid to the people affected by the flooding.
 
He also pointed out an improvement in the ability to remove water in urban and rural areas using the help of experts and specialized machines.
