Egypt's cotton exports have increased about 51.8 percent between March to May, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said on Tuesday.
CAPMAS has attributed the increase to a tendency to export after a number of spinning factories closed their Egyptian operations due to recent poltical instability.
In its quarterly cotton newsletter, covering the third quarter of the 2012-2013 agricultural season between March and May, CAPMAS recorded 346,000 metric tonnes consumed in the local market, compared to over 352,000 the previous year.
The latest figures mark a decline of around 1.7 percent.
