A video clip of a vehicle running over five children and killing one of them at a campaign rally in Egypt’s Beheira Governorate has gone viral.
The video was taken at a rally held in the governorate’s Delengat district to celebrate a candidate’s victory in the first round of Egypt’s House of Representatives elections.
The video, posted on Facebook, shows a jeep surrounded by people in the street. Suddenly, the car speeds up and screams are heard throughout the crowd as it hits five children.
Delengat’s prosecutor, Ashraf Hammouda, ordered the immediate arrest of the jeep’s driver.
Delengat Central Hospital received the body of 11 year-old Mohamed A.A., who had just started the sixth grade.
The four other children were transferred to Damanhour Teaching Hospital to have their injuries treated.
