The Ministry of the Interior’s Prisons Sector released 493 prison inmates on Sunday as part of Presidential Decree No. 280/2017, pardoning convicts for the July 23 revolution anniversary.
The Higher Pardon Committee continues to study other cases that deserve a conditional pardon. Sunday it ordered the conditional pardon of 103 inmates.
This framework supports the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to implement a punitive modern policy, providing various aspects of care for prisoners and releasing convicts who have been rehabilitated to join the society, the Ministry said in a statement.
