4.19 earthquake hits Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh on Thursday

A 4.19 magnitude earthquake struck the Gulf of Aqaba region Thursday, impacting areas across multiple countries.

The quake, which occurred at 1:42 pm Cairo time, was felt by residents as far as 131 kilometers north of Sharm El-Sheikh, according to Taha Rabah, head of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG).

The NRIAG confirmed that there were no reported casualties from the seismic event.

Its epicenter was recorded 60 kilometers south of Aqaba city, at a depth of 19.33 kilometers. The earthquake’s effects were felt in Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, highlighting the region’s interconnected seismic activity.
