Mohamed Sherine Fahmy, the judge delegated from the Supreme Judiciary Council, has referred 34 judges and members of judicial authorities to disciplinary board over involvement in joining Judges for Egypt movement, which is considered as practice of politics and hence violate the judicial authority law.
Informed judicial source said investigations are still ongoing with the members who earlier left their positions at the movement.
Investigations showed that the judges in question attended the press conference at which toppled President Mohamed Morsy was declared the president before the announcement by the High Elections Commission.
They were also shown to have held rallies to support the supplementary constitutional declaration issued by Morsy in November 2012, which made his decisions unchallengeable.
Some of them, according to investigations, held meetings to support decisions that were issued by Morsy. Some also appeared on TV to promote their thoughts and principles claiming they were working on independence of judiciary.
Interrogations cleared that the movement was affiliated to the self-styled Judiciary Independence Current, which was led by former Vice-President Mahmoud Mekki, his brother the former Justice Minister Ahmed Mekki, former Vice-President of Cassation Court Mahmoud al-Khodeiry, who is currently tried over torturing of a citizen, former President of Cassation Court Hossam al-Gheriany, Head of the Central Auditing Organization Hesham Genina and former chief of Judges Club Zakareyya abdel Aziz.
