An IED exploded on a platform at Cairo’s Ramses Railway Station, according to Gamal Halawa, chief of the Civil Defense service, who revealed that another bomb was defused by police squads.
Azbakiya Prosecution received an alert from the station’s police services that three people were wounded in the blast, but no deaths resulted.
Egypt has witnessed frequent IED attacks across the republic targeting security forces and public facilities since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsy. Extremist Islamist groups claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks but police occasionally said it arrested Muslim Brotherhood loyalists over involvement in a number of bombings.
