Twenty-nine militants were killed during an exchange with the army and police forces in the cities of Arish, Sheikh Zuweid, and Rafah in North Sinai and mountainous areas in central Sinai, the armed forces spokesperson Mohamed Samir announced in a statement Monday.
Four suspects were arrested as part of a crackdown on militants, and two cars and three motorcycles belonging to militants were destroyed by security forces, according to the statement.
Two rifles, six sacks of ammonium nitrate, used in the manufacture of explosives, and 550 kg of narcotic substances were seized during the crackdown, Samir added.
