2,500 youth head to Sharm el-Sheikh to support domestic tourism

Approximately 2,500 youth headed to Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday morning to participate in the Know Your Country (E'raf Baladak) campaign launched by the Youth and Sports Ministry in late December to promote tourism.

This is the ninth group to head to Sharm el-Sheikh as part of the campaign.

The group kicked off from the parking lot of the Cairo International Stadium Authority in 50 buses.

Participants are members of youth centers affiliated with the ministry in different governorates and include, among others, young lawyers, media personnel and employees from the Antiquities Ministry.

They will spend five days at the resort, during which they will visit tourist attractions in al-Salam City.

The Youth and Sports Ministry launched the campaign to promote domestic tourism and help ease the financial burden for staff in the tourism and hotels sector in Sharm el-Sheikh.

To date, 20,000 people have participated in this campaign, coming from different governorates around the country.

The Youth and Sports Ministry organizes weekly trips to Sharm el-Sheikh at its own expense in an attempt to promote tourism.

Tour guide Mohamed Abdallah said the beautiful nature surrounding Sharm el-Sheikh should not be the only tourist attraction to the city. According to him, officials should develop different services for tourists in order to be a more attractive city.
