248 licenses worth LE1.5 bn issued for industrial projects in December: IDA

Licenses were issued for 248 industrial projects at a cost of LE1.5 billion in December 2015, the Industrial Development Authority has announced.
 
The number increased from 229 projects worth LE2.4 billion during the same month in 2014.
 
The newly licensed projects, which have been distributed across 21 provinces, have created 13,000 jobs, according to the IDA’s statement.
 
The number of license approvals granted in 2015 stood at nearly 1,895, with investments worth a total of LE58 billion. During that period, 77,000 jobs were created.
 
Foodstuff projects emerged as those that were granted the most licenses in December, with 81 licenses, followed by the petrochemical sector, with 46, and the textile industry with 38.
