Nasr City's first prosecution started questioning 21 supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy on Sunday who were arrested while attempting to break into Rabaa al-Adaweya Square to stage a sit-in there.
Around 500 Morsay supporters of different ages had attempted to storm security barricades to stage a renewed protest in Rabaa.
According to investigations, the suspects removed the iron barricades around Rabaa on Saturday and damaged some police cars during the break-in. The prosecution has requested the investigations submitted by the National Security Apparatus and the investigations office.
The suspects faces charges of resisting authorities, assaulting police forces in Rabaa and damaging public property.
The suspects meanwhile denied the charges and said they were planning to stage a peaceful protest.
