Cairo Criminal Court sentenced on Thursday 21 defendants to death, and four others to life in prison, in the case known as ‘Damietta’s terrorist cell’.
Three others were sentenced to 15 years rigorous imprisonment.
The defendants were accused of forming a terrorist group which intended to disrupt state institutions. They were also accused of destroying public and private property, manufacturing explosives, possessing arms and ammunition without a license, and collaboration and espionage for a terrorist group based outside the country.
