Al-Salam neighborhood prosecutor Mohamed Salama ordered on Monday the detention of two policemen for 4 days, pending investigation over facilitating the escape of a defendant from al-Salam Misdemeanor Court during the trial.
The two policemen, Refaat A, and Sobhy M. allegebdly helped Rezq M. to escape court during his trial over charges of theft.
The defendant was sentenced to 3 years in prison, but appealed the sentence. He escaped while the court was considering his appeal.
According to investigations, the two policeman had agreed with the defendant to release him, which has been confirmed by other defendants.
