East Alexandria prosecution ordered the release of Emirati ‘Al-Bayaan’ newspaper’s journalist Mai al-Sabagh, with bail of LE2000, and photographer Ahmed Mostafa on a bail worth LE1000, over charges of disseminating false news and filming without a permit.
Police detectives of Alexandria’s Attarin Police Station arrested Sabagh and Mostafa on Friday, detaining them for up to 15 days pending investigations, when they were filming and documenting a report on Alexandria’s tramway in the Mansheya area, as a heritage which has lasted for over 150 years.
Sabagh and Mosafa’s lawyer Abdel Rahman al-Gohary said that the prosecution decided to release the two journalists.
“Mai and her photographer colleague will return back to the [station] to complete the measures for their release,” Gohary said.
