A total of 169 Morsy loyalists were arrested across Egypt on Friday following clashes between police and supporters of the ousted president, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Three suspects allegedly set fire to a police vehicle in Zaitoun, Cairo, and were apprehended while in possession of a box filled with 12 Molotov cocktails, the statement said.
"Six others were arrested in Rod al-Farag, Cairo, with six molotovs and six gas masks,” officials added. “They admitted that they had been on their way to back up Brotherhood marches in Talbiya, Giza.”
The ministry said that citizens in Matariya and Ain Shams districts in Cairo confronted the "terrorist organization" and arrested two of them with nine molotovs.
