15 MBs released, 36 arrested

Security services arrested 20 members of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) opposition group in Sharqiya on Thursday morning, charging them with "holding illicit meetings" to discuss upcoming parliamentary elections.

MB sources, however, said their colleagues had been arrested on the street while en route to their homes.

In Beheira, another 16 group members were arrested for staging demonstrations condemning ongoing Israeli aggression in Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, the Kafr el-Sheikh Court ordered the release of eight MB members arrested in their homes two months ago.

Prosecutors in Daqahliya also released seven MB members that had been arrested last Friday for staging public protests against Israeli provocations.
