15 people were killed in Cairo on Monday after a dispute between vendors erupted into a bloody fight.
A dispute occurred between a cosmetics shop owner on Mosky street and street vendors who were occupying a spot outside his store. As the argument became heated, with both sides trading insults and cursing at each other, the shop owner shot dead two street vendors, whereby their relatives took revenge by hurling fire bottles at the shop, causing 12 others, including the shop owner, to burn to death.
Prosecutors ordered that the victims be buried after identifying them through DNA samples.
Eight fire engines were deployed to the scene to put the fire out, but by then the blaze had destroyed the shop and the neighboring store completely as the chemical contents of cleaning materials found in the store made the fire spread faster.
