The Misdemeanor Court held in Nasr City and headed by Judge Hesham Seddiq sentenced 14 pro-Muslim Brotherhood protesters to three years in jail and a fine of LE50,000 each over clashes that occurred on 29 November in al-Amireya neighborhood.
They were charged with assaulting security forces, blocking roads, inciting riots, destroying public and private property, demonstrating without a permit from the Ministry of Interior, and joining a ‘terrorist’ group that aims to disturb peace and public safety.
Clashes took place on Friday 29 November between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and police. Protesters allegedly used Molotov cocktails and pelted stones at the security forces, who responded with tear gas.
