Authorities say the results of medical tests have revealed that 14 applicants for the House of Representatives candidacy are drug abusers.
The medical reports were submitted to the High Elections Commission to take legal action against them.
Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 6,720 candidates applied for the medical tests.
A weak number of applicants for the House of Representatives candidacy headed to South Cairo Court to submit needed documents on Wednesday due to bad weather.
Bad weather in Kafr al-Sheikh has also prevented candidates from submitting their applications.
Judge Samy Meselhy, head of Kafr al-Sheikh elections commission, said only two candidates submitted documents on Wednesday. He added the number of all applicants so far in Kafr al-Sheikh reached 159 candidates.
In Qaliubiya, only six applicants filed their documents Wednesday. The overall numbers of candidates so far in Qaliubiya reached 189.
