Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy said that the telecommunications sector grew by 9.8 percent of GDP and is projected to reach 13 percent next year, or LE66 billion compared to LE58 billion.
At his speech before the Cairo International Conference for Telecommunications in the presence of Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb on Tuesday, Helmy said the sector targets LE165 billion in 2020 or 16 percent of GDP.
He also said the sector is expected to provide 750,000 job opportunities, pointing out that Egypt is rated first in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe in terms of outsourcing services.
