Thirteen people were arrested in Beni Suef on Wednesday after a firefight near a checkpoint, and found to be in possession of birdshots.
Investigations indicated that the driver of a microbus carrying 13 people broke through the security barrier of a checkpoint on the eastern desert road, while a passenger in the vehicle shot at security forces. The security forces fired back, injuring four of the assailants, who were taken to the hospital. The rest were arrested.
According to security sources, the suspects were in possession of an Italian-made birdshot gun and 10 individual birdshots.
