12 students sentenced to 4 years in prison, LE100,000 fine

Al-Wayly Misdemeanor Court sentenced Sunday 12 Ain Shams University students to four years in prison and a fine worth LE100,000 over charges of protesting without a license, assembling, rioting, destroying public and private property and joining a banned group in last March.

The security forces arrested a number of Muslim Brotherhood students in Ain Shams University and handed them over to Wayly Police Station following riots.

Students Against the Coup movement organized marches on campus to denounce the killing of two students at Al-Azhar University in March and to demand releasing detained students. The march kicked off from the Faculty of Arts and headed to the Faculty of Science.

The march left campus through the main gate, blocked al-Khalifa al-Ma'moun Street, set fire to tires, and chanted slogans against the military rule.
