The Sidi Gaber Misdemeanor Court in Alexandria sentenced on Saturday 12 supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsy to six months with hard labor over charges of affiliation with a banned group (the Muslim Brotherhood), resisting authorities and breaking the protest law during demonstrations last January.
Another suspect was acquitted due to poor health conditions.
The protesters were arrested following protests at the districts of Ezbet Saad and Hadara.
In related news, the al-Arbaeen Misdemeanor Court in Suez sentenced 14 Muslim Brotherhood supporters to two years with hard labor and a fine of LE50,000 over charges of protesting without prior authorization two months ago.
