Official military spokesperson Tamer al-Refai stated that the Egyptian Air Forces destroyed 10 vehicles carrying machine guns in the western borders of the country, as part of the Armed Forces’ comprehensive ongoing nationwide counter-terrorist operation, ‘Sinai 2018’.
Intelligence information revealed that “several criminal elements” were preparing to “infiltrate the borders using several four-wheel drives (4X4) [in] the western strategic direction,” said Refai.
Upon orders of Armed Forces operators, planes flew over the area to monitor the borders and attack the targets, destroying 10 four-wheel drives carrying machine guns and ammunition, he said.
The air forces and border guards continue seeking to secure state borders and prevent infiltration across the country’s strategic directions.
