Shubra al-Kheima Criminal Court ordered on Saturday the referral of ten suspects, who are accused of blocking Qalyub road back in 2012, to the mufti to approve their death sentence.
The ten suspects are Muslim Brotherhood’s Mufti Abdel Rahman al-Barr, group figures Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud, Abdullah Hassan, Gamal Abdel Hady, Mohamed Gamal Eddin, Hesham Zaky, Mohamed Ali Abdel Raouf, Hossam al-Maraghy, Mostafa al-Badry and Emad Shershaby
The court also said verdict against other suspects including the group’s Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie will be issued on 5 July.
The 48 suspects involved in the lawsuit face charges of inciting violence and murder, blocking Qalyub road, endangering citizens’ lives and resisting authorities.
According to the court, the next session will be broadcast only by the state TV. All means of communication, including mobile phones, will be taken from journalists attending the session.
After hearing the sentence, Badie said, “The verdict is null and politicized. Egyptian people should resume its struggle for freedom and downfall of the military.”
“If people sought life, military should respond. We do not fear death sentences, because its our most precious wishes. We will resume confrontation of the coup until the last drop of blood,” he said from inside the cage.
