Ten fishermen were rescued after their boat broke down near the Jabal al-Zayt area in the Red Sea, the Rescue and Environmental Protection Society (REPS) in Hurghada announced.
Director of REPS Hassan al-Tayyeb said that a fishing boat was near their site and pulled the broken down fishing boat to shore. There were no injuries among the fishermen.
Initial investigations found that the fishermen were on a fishing trip and were surprised by the vessel’s failure.
Tayyeb said that he received a notification from the Rescue Operations Center and the Red Sea Operations Center on Friday that they received a distress signal regarding a fishing boat carrying 10 Egyptian nationals that broken down in the Jabal al-Zayt area in the northern Red Sea, and they asked for help.
He added that the marine units near the site were notified to intervene and they dispatched a rescue vessel for REPS.
