A Cairo appeals court will consider on January 4 a challenge by media host Islam Beheiry against his one-year sentence over charges of blasphemy.
Beheiry's lawyer based his challenge on the fact that another court had acquitted him of the charge in a separate case in June.
Behairy was transferred from al-Khalifa police station Tuesday to Tora Prison to serve a one-year sentence over charges of contempt of religion.
He was arrested after south Cairo misdemeanor court issued a ruling that sentenced him to one year in prison on Monday evening.
