Trial of Yasmine al-Nersh over insulting policeman adjourned to 1 August

Cairo Criminal Court adjourned on Monday trial of Yasmine al-Nersh, the suspect accused of assaulting Cairo Airport policeman until August 1 to hear the defense requests.

Dressed in white, the suspect arrived to court under high security measures. She was kept in the cage. Some of her family members arrived in the morning to attend the session.

Public Prosecutor Hesham Barakat earlier referred Nersh to criminal court upon investigations that showed her possession of drugs with the purpose of trading, resisting policeman, insulting civil servants and carrying out indecent actions in public.

The suspect denied all the charges levelled against her in the court.

The defense requested a statement from EgyptAir about the flight of April 28 heading to Hurghada at 7 pm, names of the workers at the airport’s arrival hall on the same day, summoning airport employee Ahmed Moussa Diab for having new testimony and the official in charge of operating the surveillance cameras.

The defense also requested delegating an expert to discharge the content of the CD of the attacks against the policeman. It was also requested to release the suspect on bail, especially that she has left her seven-year-old daughter with their house servant.

However, the plaintiff lawyer Khaled Suleiman requested LE100,000 as compensation.
