Top prosecutor orders investigation into Cairo, Giza clashes

Public prosecutors have ordered an urgent investigation in Monday night clashes at Ramses Square and al-Bahr al-A'zam Street after seven people were killed and hundreds more injured.

Supporters of toppled President Mohamed Morsy clashed with security forces, street vendors and anti-Morsy protesters in Cairo late Monday.

Prosecutors will consult with Interior Ministry officals to begin investigations over the clashes and bring those suspected of inciting the violence for interrogation, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported.

The prosecutors will head to Qasr al-Aini, al-Helal, Sayed Galal and Agouza hospitals to question those wounded during clashes, as well as referring dead bodies to forensic investigators.

The Ministry of Health earlier announced that seven people were killed and 261 others were injured in clashes that began around 9 pm and continued into the early hours of Tuesday.
