Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi sent a telegram to Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim in which he condemned the failed assassination attempt on his life.
In his telegram, Sisi said, "The general leadership of the Armed Forces supports policemen in the face of crime, in the arresting of criminals and in their efforts to spread stability across our beloved Egypt whereby both the Armed Forces and the police aid each other. "
Sisi added that such [assassination] attempts would not demoralise security forces but only bolster their determination.
"We trust the men of the Armed Forces and the Interior Ministry's ability to carry on with the implementation of security procedures to eliminate criminal hubs and to decisively deal with terrorist elements with the support and solidarity of Egyptians."
The attempt on Ibrahim's life resulted in the injury of eight people, including six officers and a child who were transferred to a hospital.
