King Salman bin Abdulaziz pardoned 76 Egyptian prisoners in Saudi Arabia on the occasion of his accession to power Thursday.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptian Expatriates Amr Moawad said in remarks Thursday that the step comes within the framework of following up the conditions of the Egyptian prisoners detained pending investigation in the kingdom.
The Egyptian authorities follow-up the pardon procedures and will facilitate their return to Egypt, Moawad said.
