Power outage cripples New Valley governorate

A power outage in the New Valley on Monday essentially brought life to a standstill for residents in the governorate.

Irrigation, drinking water and sewage networks, as well as the Internet and telecommunications, gas stations and gas stations were all suspended as a result.

The health sector had to quickly switch to diesel-fueled power plants to run emergency departments and intensive care units until the power is restored, said Khedr Ali, head of the Nag Hammadi electricity sector.

Ali said the breakdown occurred at the Nag Hammadi power plant in the Qena governorate, which provides power to different regions in Upper Egypt. He said emergency and vital facilities are currently depending on diesel to generate electricity.
