Mubarak’s trial for allegedly killing demonstrators postponed until 8 March

Cairo Criminal Court decided on Monday to postpone the trial of former President Hosni Mubarak, his two sons Alaa and Gamal, and his Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six of his top aides until 8 March.

Kamal al-Daly, the Giza security director, did not give his testimony upon the request of the defense. Prosecutors tasked him and the head of the National Telecommunications Authority to submit to the court the dates of cutting off communication lines in any part of the country as of 16 July 2013. They also ordered that Adly remain in custody.

Witness Ayman Fahim, an officer of the Republican Guard, said that Mubarak told him the Renaissance Dam would be built on his dead body. He also said Mubarak gave orders not to shoot at demonstrators even if they entered his bedroom.

This was the second consecutive session of the trial.
