Minister: Egypt submitted two studies on Renaissance Dam to Ethiopia, Sudan

Egypt submitted two studies on the Renaissance Dam to both Sudan and Ethiopia, as part of ongoing efforts to exchange views on the project between the three countries, said Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hossam Moghazy.

In a statement on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the meetings of the 7th round of talks of the National Technical Committee, Moghazy added that one of the studies tackles the impact of the Renaissance Dam on Egypt., whereas the second one deals with the hydraulic performance of the Renaisance Dam. According to the study, Ethiopia needs to modify the dam to secure the water needs of downstream countries, Moghazy said.

He stressed Egypt's insistence on transparency while expressing its concerns about the Renaissance Dam.

The 7th round of talks of the National Technical Committee, which includes 12 experts from Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia, started earlier on Wednesday.
